As we approach the end of the year and tax loss selling continues for some of the under performing stocks and sectors it can be very profitable having a list of companies you like and will buy in the next couple weeks. We focus on the zinc sector today which is an area where stocks have had a tough year and is susceptible to further selling into year end. I get Brien to comment on what he is looking for in terms of economic studies and potential company drivers heading into next year.

Brien Leni kicks off today by sharing his current portfolio strategy for the junior stocks. We outline why he is not feeling rushed into buying any stocks and why he would be ok with giving up some gains to ensure certain stocks are in a stronger position. It has a little bit to do with the time of the year but also the fact that the juniors have still lagged the overall PM sector.
Brien Leni joins me today for a discussion on the differences between top down vs bottom up investing. In simplistic terms top down investing starts with the big picture and drives down to smaller factors and finally down into the companies that fall into the bullish outlook. While bottom up investing starts with a company and drives up to the macro picture which then determines such accepts such as timing for the investment. Both are valid strategies but it is important to not take any biases into an investment decision especially when it is with a top down approach.
Please let us know what investment strategy you prefer and if there are any companies you want Brien and I to look into. You can always email me at Fleck@kereport.com.
