Mining engineer George Burns, the CEO of Canadian miner Eldorado Gold, has been appointed an independent director of Vancouver-based Turquoise Hill Resources. Burns has a 40-year career in gold, copper and coal mining, Turquoise Hill pointed out on Tuesday, adding that his mining and construction background in openpit and underground mines would add further depth and expertise to the board.
