Despite operating under Covid-19 restrictions, Transnet Port Terminals’ (TPT’s) Saldanha Iron Ore Terminal (IOT) loaded 15.6-million tonnes in the first four months of the 2020/21 financial year, meeting 76% of their contractual obligations. Suring the same period last year, and using a full complement of gangs and two loaders, the terminal loaded 18.5-million tonnes of ore. During the week of June 29 until July 5, the iron ore terminal beat their target of 967 000 tonnes loading over 1.1-million tonnes and set an operating norm of 8 847 tonnes every hour.
