WA miners contribute billions to economy – survey

The Western Australian resources sector contributed some A$67.1-billion to Australia’s economy in 2018-19, directly creating more than 71 000 jobs, a survey of 53 Western Australian resources sector companies has found.

The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) CEO Paul Everingham said the data provided by 53 member companies for the financial year 2018-19, shows how industry’s spending flows through to every part of Western Australia, by means of wages and salaries, business purchases, government payments and community contributions.
