While employment figures for Australian geoscientists deteriorated in the first three months of 2020, the results have not been as severe as previously feared, the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) said on Wednesday.
Unemployment increased to 10% in the March quarter, compared with 7.3% at the end of the December quarter, while under-employment among self-employed geoscientists increased from 13.1% to 18.1% in the same period.
