The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (Nopsema) has given the green light for oil and gas major Woodside’s Scarborough project, offshore Western Australia, following an assessment of its potential environmental impacts.
CEO Peter Coleman said that Nopsema’s acceptance of the offshore project proposal (OPP) was a significant step forward for the proposed development of the Scarborough gas resource, which is now being progressed on a revised schedule due to the current uncertain global investment environment.
