Toronto-based Laurion Mineral Exploration reports discovering the fifth new polymetallic occurrence in the CRK zone at the Ishkoday gold-silver-zinc project in the Beardmore area, 220 km northeast of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The find consists of sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrite and magnetite-chlorite-actinolite-sulphide.
Formerly known as the Sturgeon River project, the Ishkoday name – meaning “fire/flint rock” – was chosen from among submissions from local First Nations.
Trenching at the CRK zone suggests that characteristic mineralization extends 550 metres in total on a northeast-southwest trend. The best gold value was 7.15 g/t over 0.33 metre. Zinc values ran from 6.21% to 30% with most of the samples assaying around 10% to 14%.
