Vancouver-based Asanko Gold is making changes to its management team. Effective Aug. 1, 2019, Josephat (Joe) Zvaipa will be executive VP and COO based in the Johannesburg office. The new chair of Great Panther Mining in Vancouver is Jeffrey R. Mason. He succeeds R.W. (Bob) Garnett who will remain on the board.

McEwen Mining, headquartered in Toronto, has named Steven Woolfenden as VP environment and community affairs, and Stefan Spears is transitioning into the role of VP corporate development. Woolfenden has worked for the federal government and most recently Iamgold. Spears was formerly McEwen’s VP of projects.

Yale Simpson has been appointed chairman and Bryce Roxburgh president and CEO of Vancouver-based Rugby Mining. The men are industry professionals, having been joint chairmen of Exeter Resource until it was sold in 2017. Paul Joyce will take up the roles of COO and director. Together the three men own about 24% of the company’s shares.
