Parliament committee worried about budget size for safety and health in mines, given fatalities

Parliament’s committee on land reform, environment, mineral resources and energy said on Wednesday it was concerned at the budget allocated to safety and health in South Africa’s mines, given ongoing fatalities. "The size of the allocation gives the impression that the department does not take mine safety seriously," the committee said in a statement, after it was  briefed by the department of mineral resources and energy on its annual performance plan and budget for 2019/20.
