Jim McKinney is an
Independent Trustee for Saturna Investment Trust, Saturna Capital, the owner of
Apple Mountain LLC, a development and consulting firm, and a volunteer for
numerous local non-profit community youth organizations.  He is a retired
US Army Foreign Area Officer with extensive service in the Middle East, Europe,
and Asia.  He served as a Senior Defense Official/Defense Attaché, Deputy
Chief of Counter-Terrorism for US PACOM’s JIOC, a Security Assistance Officer
for US Embassies, and as a leader, advisor and analyst in numerous other global
assignments.  He provided extensive guidance and assistance to senior
government leaders in developing nations.  He has a Bachelor’s in
Government from California State University, Sacramento, and Master’s in
International Studies from the University of Washington. 

Jim recently returned
from a contract assignment in Afghanistan where he coordinated Intelligence
Surveillance and Reconnaissance operations for US Special Operations Forces and
Allied Train and Assist partners.
