At this moment, this mature attitude should prevail says Big Al and, his buddy, Tim Howe

Al,

The indignation some people have expressed over the yearbook photo of the Virginia Governor in blackface has perplexed me.  Have we evolved into a society that only allows “perfect” people to lead us?  I makes me wonder how many highly qualified, intelligent people chose not to enter politics because they fear that something they did in their youth will come back to haunt them, even possibly tarnishing them for the remainder of their life.

We all have done stupid things in our youth.  Should a person be punished for it 30 or 40 years later?

I believe that the indignation by some is false – it is something that they can point to in order to bring a person down.

Some have grown ultra sensitive in our society for many reasons.  I myself have grown ultra sensitive to people trashing good people because of a perceived slight.
