Gold prices have lost modest early gains in late-morning price action Wednesday, at the same time the U.S. dollar index and the U.S. stock indexes have pushed to or near their daily highs.

The consultancy Metals Focus sees a “bright” outlook for silver demand by the photovoltaic industry. This involves the use of silver to conduct electricity for solar energy.
