{"id":840022,"date":"2018-07-11T10:46:55","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T10:46:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=840022"},"modified":"2018-07-11T10:46:55","modified_gmt":"2018-07-11T10:46:55","slug":"huge-diamonds-keep-coming-out-of-lucapas-lulo-mine-in-angola-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=840022","title":{"rendered":"Huge diamonds keep coming out of Lucapa\u2019s Lulo mine in Angola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-style:italic;font-size:16px\">By  <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/huge-diamonds-keep-coming-lucapas-lulo-mine-angola\/\">Cecilia Jamasmie<\/a><\/span>  <\/p>\n<div class=\"ftpimagefix\" style=\"float:left\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/huge-diamonds-keep-coming-lucapas-lulo-mine-angola\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/lulo-special-diamonds.jpg\" alt=\"Findings at Lucapa's Lulo diamond project jump on record mined volumes\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s Lucapa Diamond (ASX:LOM) has found yet another large sparkler at its prolific Lulo mine in Angola \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lucapa.com.au\/sites\/default\/files\/asx-announcements\/6890447.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">a 114-carat diamond<\/a>, the eleventh 100-plus carat diamond recovered to date and the third this year.<\/p>\n<p><q>The 114-carat diamond is the eleventh 100-plus carat recovered to date and the third this year.<\/q><\/p>\n<p>The company said the stone will be added to an inventory of large diamonds being held for sale at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the junior miner said Lulo had yielded <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/findings-at-lucapas-lulo-project-jump-on-record-mined-diamonds\/\" rel=\"noopener\">118 special diamonds in the first half of 2018<\/a>, including <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/lucapa-finds-yet-another-large-diamond-angola\/\" rel=\"noopener\">a 46-carat pink stone<\/a>, the largest coloured gem-quality rock ever recovered there.<\/p>\n<p>Lucapa has a 35-year license for the project, which in February bore a massive 404.2-carat white diamond, considered the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.asx.com.au\/asxpdf\/20160229\/pdf\/435gdl9lbsgpbx.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">largest diamond ever recovered in Angola<\/a> and the biggest ever found by an Australian company.<\/p>\n<p>It also holds a 70% interest in the Lesotho-based Mothae project, located within 5 km of Gem Diamonds&#8217; (LON:GEMD) Let\u0161eng mine, which in February <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/gem-diamonds-shares-fire-miner-finds-910-carat-rock\/\" rel=\"noopener\">yielded a 910-carat rock<\/a>, the fifth biggest gem-quality diamond ever found.<\/p>\n<p>Angola is the world&#8217;s No.4 diamond producer by value and No.6 by volume.
