{"id":5780,"date":"2014-10-08T20:09:49","date_gmt":"2014-10-08T20:09:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=5780"},"modified":"2014-10-08T20:19:17","modified_gmt":"2014-10-08T20:19:17","slug":"gold-time-to-prepare-for-big-gains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=5780","title":{"rendered":"Gold: Time to Prepare for Big Gains?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caseyresearch.com\/go\/uahda-2\/CSW\">Gold: Time to Prepare for Big Gains?<\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: small;\">By Casey Research<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Years of a severe downturn in the gold market have left very few bulls to speak out in favor of the yellow metal.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5724\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5724\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rule.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5724 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rule-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Rick Rule\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" data-id=\"5724\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5724\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rick Rule<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here are some positive opinions on the future of the precious metal, from the recently concluded Casey Research Fall Summit.<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/trk.caseyresearch.com\/f\/?content_id=1020&amp;code=CSW&amp;editorial=gold-time-to-prepare-for-big-gains\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>David Tice<\/strong>, founder of the Prudent Bear Fund, believes we are heading for a \u201cglobal currency reset\u201d that will reduce the role of the dollar in global trade. Central banks, he says, don\u2019t possess all the gold they claim to, and the unwinding of the paper gold market probably isn\u2019t far down the road\u2014it could even ignite the next major crisis.<\/p>\n<p>The paper gold market (for example, exchange-traded funds like GLD) has massive leverage, with a ratio of 90:1 or 100:1 of paper claims on gold bullion. If only a small fraction of owners convert their paper to physical gold, says Tice, it will create a \u201cno bid\u201d price environment and cause the price of gold to explode.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that once the paper gold market collapses, gold will be priced on the basis of supply\/demand for the physical metal\u2014which means it could be headed for $3,000 to $8,000 per ounce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ed Steer<\/strong>, editor of Casey Research\u2019s popular e-letter <em>Gold and Silver Daily<\/em>, is equally bullish on gold\u2026 in the long term, because right now, he believes the gold market to be rigged: \u201cCentral banks intervene; that\u2019s what they do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They control not only gold, but also silver, platinum, palladium, copper, and oil. He says there are two possible reasons that Germany hasn\u2019t gotten its gold back that it had stored in the US\u2014either the gold doesn\u2019t exist or there\u2019s so much paper written against it that it can\u2019t be moved for collateral reasons.<\/p>\n<p>While there\u2019s not much an investor can do about gold manipulation, Steer believes that the manipulators\u2019 schemes will blow up in their faces sooner than later.<\/p>\n<p>Summit regular <strong>Rick Rule<\/strong>, chairman of Sprott US Holdings, isn\u2019t worried about the bear market in gold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat matters is your response to the bear market,\u201d he says. \u201cIf you have the wits, courage, knowledge, and cash to take advantage of them, bear markets are great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s keeping his eyes peeled on junior gold mining stocks, which, he says, are hugely attractive right now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur market has fallen by 75% in three years. That means it\u2019s 75% more attractive than in 2010, when we were all in love with it. Within a few years, we\u2019ll look back on today\u2019s low prices as the good old days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Louis James<\/strong>, chief investment strategist of Casey\u2019s Metals &amp; Mining division, also welcomes the opportunities to buy low that the current slump in gold prices provides.<\/p>\n<p>He personally owns stock of three of the junior miners present in the Map Room at the Casey Fall Summit.
