{"id":505635,"date":"2017-06-16T00:32:04","date_gmt":"2017-06-16T00:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=505635"},"modified":"2017-06-16T00:32:04","modified_gmt":"2017-06-16T00:32:04","slug":"bhp-billiton-announces-new-chairman-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=505635","title":{"rendered":"BHP Billiton announces new Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-style:italic;font-size:16px\">By  <a class=\"colorbox\" href=\"http:\/\/juniormininganalyst.com\/bhp-billiton-announces-new-chairman\/\">analyst<\/a><\/span>  <\/p>\n<p><span>By  <a class=\"colorbox\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/bhp-billiton-announces-new-chairman\/\">Valentina Ruiz Leotaud<\/a><\/span>  <\/p>\n<p>The world&#8217;s largest mining company, BHP Billiton (ASX, NYSE:BHP) (LON:BLT) announced today that Ken MacKenzie has been elected to succeed long-serving Chairman Jac Nasser.<\/p>\n<p>Following a formal process led by Senior Independent Director, Shriti Vadera, the new chairman will assume his post on September 1, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Former CEO of global packaging company Amcor, MacKenzie joined the BHP board as a non-executive director in September 2016 and is a member of its Sustainability Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian executive, who lives in Australia, has over 23 years of international business experience and, according to Vadera, \u201chas a proven track record of delivering value for shareholders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His appointment comes after Australian Nasser, who was a board member for over 10 years and was appointed chairman in 2010, <a class=\"colorbox\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/bhp-billiton-to-lose-chairman-jac-nasser-next-year\/\" target=\"_blank\">announced his retirement<\/a> in October last year.
