autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nCredit: Portogente videos<\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian Navy is monitoring the location of the ore carrier Stella Banner that sunk Friday off the coast of Maranh\u00e3o. <\/p>\n<p>On Friday morning, salvors sent the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/vales-massive-ore-carriers-suffer-new-setback\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$110 million ship<\/a> to the bottom off the coast, just four years after its construction. <\/p>\n<p>The ship&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/web\/vale-says-iron-ore-ship-was-damaged\/\" >ran aground<\/a>&nbsp;approximately 100km from coast of S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds on February 24, 2020 as it departed Vale\u2019s Ponta da Madeira Maritime Terminal with 275,000 tons of iron ore for China.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All 20 crew members were subsequently evacuated in good condition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before the sinking operation, the salvage team removed about 3,900 cubic meters of fuel oil and about 140,000 tonnes of iron ore from the Stellar Banner&#8217;s holds. <\/p>\n<p>Salvors successfully refloated the Stellar Banner on June 3, but the vessel was declared a total loss, and its owner &#8211;
