{"id":1185943,"date":"2020-05-22T08:20:12","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T13:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1024401"},"modified":"2020-05-22T08:20:12","modified_gmt":"2020-05-22T13:20:12","slug":"inobat-acquires-massive-factory-to-make-client-customised-ev-batteries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1185943","title":{"rendered":"InoBat acquires massive factory to make client-customised EV batteries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At a time when Europe is working towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/european-commission-working-on-sustainable-battery-rules\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"challenging China\u2019s dominance (opens in a new tab)\">challenging China\u2019s dominance<\/a> of the global battery market, Slovak company InoBat Auto announced the acquisition of a 290,000-square-foot industrial space near the capital Bratislava where it is planning to build an innovative production facility.<\/p>\n<div class='ad-slot' id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {    googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');    googletag.pubads().addEventListener('slotRenderEnded', function (event) {        if (event.isEmpty) {            var id = event.slot.getSlotElementId();            var x = document.getElementById(id);            if(x == null) return;            if (x.parentElement.classList.contains('ad-slot')) {                x.parentElement.style.display = 'none';            }\t\t\t\t        }    });});<\/script><\/div>\n<p>In a press release, InoBat deemed the project \u201cthe world\u2019s first 100MWh facility,\u201d which will combine the company\u2019s proprietary High Throughput Process R&amp;D with prototype battery cell-manufacturing capabilities.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>The factory is strategically located in close proximity to nine major original equipment manufacturers, including Peugeot, KIA and Jaguar Land Rover<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The project is backed by IPM Group and Wildcat Discovery Technologies, and InoBat is planning to use Wildcat\u2019s proprietary R&amp;D to continuously develop customer-specific battery cells through HTP and artificial intelligence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe facility is expected to be the first in the world to produce batteries to specifications of the vehicle manufacturer, rather than selling from a catalogue, and will enable European electric vehicle manufacturers to reduce dependence on imports from Asia,\u201d the media brief states. \u201cInoBat Auto\u2019s production will contribute to a strong European energy production and storage infrastructure now recognised as vital for growth and EU technological independence, particularly after the supply chain disruption demonstrated by recent restrictions following the outbreak of covid-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Production of the first bespoke battery cells is expected in 2021.
