Operations resumed in late April with reduced staff. <\/p>\n<p>Operations at Kipushi zinc-copper mine, also in the DRC remain temporarily suspended.<\/p>\n<p>Ivanhoe said in a release that an updated Integrated Development Plan for the entire Kamoa-Kakula mining complex remain on schedule for Q3 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The company declared cash savings of up to $75 million in Q1 and $603.4 million in cash and cash equivalents.<\/p>\n<p>Billionaire Robert Friedland, who made his fortune from the Voisey\u2019s Bay nickel project in Canada in the 1990s,&nbsp;has been working on Kamoa-Kakula for ten years.<\/p>\n<p>The mining legend believes the project, being developed in partnership with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/zijin-mining-buys-10-canadas-ivanhoe-mines\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">China\u2019s Zijin Mining Group<\/a>, will become&nbsp;the world\u2019s second-largest copper mine.<\/p>\n<p>According to an\u00a0independent pre-feasibility study (PFS)\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/friedland-confident-congo-copper-mine-will-worlds-second-largest\/\" >released last year<\/a>, if all phases are completed, the operation is expected to reach peak annual production of more than 700,000 tonnes of copper.<\/p>\n<p>Ivanhoe\u2019s stock was down 3.6% on the TSX on Wednesday afternoon.
