href=\"https:\/\/investors.albemarle.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/albemarle-reports-first-quarter-results-0\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">results for the first three months of the year<\/a>, the US-based lithium miner\u2019s chief executive, Kent Masters, told investors its company was \u201cinterested\u201d in Tianqi\u2019s controlling stake in Greenbushes. \u201cWe\u2019re following it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Masters added that Albemarle, the<br \/>\nworld&#8217;s top producer of the key commodity for the batteries that power electric<br \/>\nvehicles,&nbsp;would base any decision on the matter on current market conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Tianqi Lithium, China\u2019s top producer of the battery metal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/chinas-top-lithium-miner-eyes-stake-sales-as-losses-deepens\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">warned in April<\/a> it would soon
