{"id":1176920,"date":"2020-04-08T09:51:01","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T14:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1019720"},"modified":"2020-04-08T09:51:01","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T14:51:01","slug":"cornish-lithium-hits-new-high-grade-mineralization-in-cornwall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1176920","title":{"rendered":"Cornish Lithium hits new, high-grade mineralization in Cornwall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cornish Lithium, a start-up hoping to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mining.com\/this-start-up-plans-to-be-a-top-lithium-miner-in-the-uk\/\" >lead the development of a battery metals industry in the UK<\/a>,\u00a0has hit the jackpot with the discovery of a new zone of high-grade copper-tin mineralization at Strongbow Exploration\u2019s\u00a0(TSX-V: SBW)\u00a0United Downs exploration project, in Cornwall.<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center d-xs-block d-sm-block d-md-none'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The finding comes as the British miner continues to explore<br \/>\nStrongbow\u2019s licences in Cornwall, south-west England, for lithium in brine<br \/>\noccurrences. Rights to any hard rock mineralization, however, belongs to the Canadian<br \/>\ncompany.<\/p>\n<p>The mining district where the discovery was made \u2014 Gwennap \u2014<br \/>\nwas the world\u2019s richest copper production in the eighteenth and early<br \/>\nnineteenth centuries.<\/p>\n<p>Cornwall\u2019s last mining operation, South Crofty, closed in<br \/>\n1998. But in July 2016, Vancouver-based Strongbow acquired the copper-tin<br \/>\nproject and mineral rights for 15,000 hectares.<\/p>\n<p>Partner Cornish Lithium\u2019s drilling in the area intersected<br \/>\nsemi-massive sulphide mineralization, at between 90 and 105 metres deep.<\/p>\n<p>The company is drilling further to confirm the width of the<br \/>\nmineralization as well as the strike and dip of the mineralised zone.<\/p>\n<p>In an upcoming exploration phase, Cornish Lithium has<br \/>\ndecided to also begin exploring for lithium in hard rock form, having<br \/>\ndiscovered evidence that it was mined on the surface during World War II.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the miner plans to explore for other metals<br \/>\nused in car batteries such as cobalt and copper.<\/p>\n<p>The junior revealed in 2018 that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mining.com\/this-start-up-plans-to-be-a-top-lithium-miner-in-the-uk\/\" >it needed about \u00a35 million ($6.2m) to go ahead with its plans<\/a>. Since then, it has\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/cornish-secures-1-3-million-build-lithium-mine-uk\/\" >secured more than \u00a32m ($2.5m) from private backers<\/a>\u00a0and it\u2019s already aiming at listing on the London Stock Exchange by 2022..\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cornish Lithium has also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mining.com\/uk-lithium-start-gets-1-3-million-build-new-mine-cornwall\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expanded and consolidated<\/a>&nbsp;the areas over which it has<br \/>\nrights to explore for lithium and other minerals.
