{"id":1176391,"date":"2020-04-06T14:37:45","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T19:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1019431"},"modified":"2020-04-06T14:37:45","modified_gmt":"2020-04-06T19:37:45","slug":"yamana-to-resume-cerro-moro-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1176391","title":{"rendered":"Yamana to resume Cerro Moro operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yamana Gold (TSX: YRI; NYSE: AUY) <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"announced (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yamana.com\/English\/investors\/news\/news-details\/2020\/YAMANA-GOLD-ANNOUNCES-STRONG-PRELIMINARY-FIRST-QUARTER-2020-RESULTS-JACOBINA-EL-PEN-AND-MINERA-FLORIDA-EXCEED-PRODUCTION-TARGETS-CERRO-MORO-RESUMING-NORMAL-OPERATIONS\/default.aspx\" >announced<\/a> Monday that first-quarter production was within guidance and that the Cerro Moro operation in Argentina will be resuming operations after a temporary <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"shutdown due to the covid-19 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/yamana-orders-partial-demobilization-of-workforce-at-cerro-moro\/\" >shutdown due to the covid-19<\/a> pandemic.    <\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center d-xs-block d-sm-block d-md-none'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Jacobina, El Pe\u00f1\u00f3n, and Minera Florida mines all exceeded their production targets, Yamana said, with Jacobina posting another quarterly record, with production of 43,938 gold ounces. <\/p>\n<p>The miner reported gold production of 192,238 ounces and silver production of 2.73 million ounces. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p> Gold production was 192,238 ounces and silver production was 2.73 million ounces  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Yamana previously said that 46% of production would occur in the first half of the year, which&nbsp;it&nbsp;expected to&nbsp;be evenly split between the first and second quarters&nbsp;based on the gold equivalent ounce GEO ratio forecast in&nbsp;its original production guidance.&nbsp;&nbsp;Total GEO production during the quarter was 221,746, Yamana said. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Production in the first quarter achieved this target. &nbsp;Due to the impact of covid-19, the company expects the second quarter to be weaker than previously anticipated, after which the company&nbsp;expects&nbsp;a resumption of normal operations in the second half of the year,&#8221; Yamana said in a media release.<\/p>\n<p>The miner&nbsp;also said it expects&nbsp;to&nbsp;formally&nbsp;update&nbsp;its&nbsp;guidance&nbsp;for the balance of this year and for 2021 and 2022&nbsp;when it releases its first-quarter results on April 30.<\/p>\n<p>During the quarter, Yamana paid dividends of approximately $10 million.<\/p>\n<p>Yamana&#8217;s stock traded up 4.7% on Monday on the NYSE.
