{"id":1170762,"date":"2020-03-10T16:19:39","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T22:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1016707"},"modified":"2020-03-10T16:19:39","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T22:19:39","slug":"newcrest-confirms-high-grades-at-red-chris-havieron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1170762","title":{"rendered":"Newcrest confirms high grades at Red Chris, Havieron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newcrest (ASX: NCM)\u00a0has released its exploration and guidance update\u00a0for March 2020, announcing that drilling at Red Chris has confirmed the presence of a discrete \u2018pod\u2019 of high grade\u00a0mineralisation\u00a0within the East Zone, about 100m long, 100m wide and 200m high.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center d-xs-block d-sm-block d-md-none'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Last Australia\u2019s largest gold producer, Newcrest Mining (ASX: NCM), is\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newcrest.com.au\/media\/presentations\/2019\/Investment_in_Canada_Market_Release.pdf\" >acquired a 70% joint-venture interest<\/a>\u00a0in Imperial Metals\u2019 (TSX: III) Red Chris copper and gold mine in British Columbia, Canada, as part of an\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mining.com\/web\/dance-partner-hunt-heats-gold-fueled-megamerger-push\/\" >ongoing push by the world\u2019s top bullion miners<\/a>\u00a0to get even bigger. <\/p>\n<p>Infill drilling is planned to fully define the extent of the high-grade pod and to search for additional\u00a0high grade\u00a0pods within the East Zone. The underground mining concept study, currently in progress, will evaluate the option of\u00a0stoping\u00a0any\u00a0high grade\u00a0pods ahead of other bulk underground mining methods to bring high grade ore into production earlier.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p> Infill drilling is planned to fully define the extent of the high-grade pod and to search for additional\u00a0high grade\u00a0pods within the East Zone <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Work also&nbsp;continues on&nbsp;evaluating the commencement of a decline late in the 2020 calendar year to further enhance and accelerate exploration efforts, with such a decline also being of use for any underground mining operation, Newcrest said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Drilling at\u00a0Havieron  in the Paterson region of Western Australia\u00a0continues to expand and demonstrate the continuity of high grade\u00a0mineralisation\u00a0which extends over 450m, to vertical depths of 600m and remains open at depth and to the northwest. \u00a0A further 20,000\u00a0metres\u00a0are planned to be drilled to support the objective of delivering of a maiden resource estimate in the second half of calendar year 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Studies are underway to investigate the potential of starting an exploration decline by the end of calendar year 2020 or early 2021, and the potential to achieve commercial production within two to three years from the commencement of the decline.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Guidance for FY20 has been adjusted to reflect the recently completed divestment of Gosowong, the commencement of commercial production at Fruta del Norte and the projections of all operations,\u00a0in particular, Lihir. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Updated group gold production guidance
