{"id":1169328,"date":"2020-03-04T08:15:36","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T14:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1015843"},"modified":"2020-03-04T08:15:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-04T14:15:36","slug":"talga-receives-environmental-permit-for-swedish-graphite-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1169328","title":{"rendered":"Talga receives environmental permit for Swedish graphite project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Environmental Review Committee within the Norrbotten County Administration Board issued a three-year environmental permit for Stage 1 mining operations at the Vittangi graphite project in northern Sweden. <\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center d-xs-block d-sm-block d-md-none'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Vittangi is owned by Australia&#8217;s Talga Resources (ASX: TLG), whose management is planning for a trial mine that allows for the extraction of up to 25,000 tonnes of graphite ore.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>The environmental and statutory permits for Stage 2 of the project are planned to be submitted in March 2020, which will include an on-site plant at Vittangi with a processing capacity of 100,000 tonnes per annum of graphite ore<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The material is to be processed into concentrate at an off-site toll milling facility before refining it at Talga&#8217;s operations into Talnode-C, the company\u2019s flagship Li-ion battery anode product. <\/p>\n<p>The permitting process included comprehensive test work and studies to minimise the environmental footprint of the operation along with community and stakeholder consultations. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a significant milestone in our execution of developing the Vittangi project, and towards a truly localised European supply chain for lithium-ion batteries,&#8221;
