{"id":1167602,"date":"2020-02-25T04:10:57","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T10:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1014955"},"modified":"2020-02-25T04:10:57","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T10:10:57","slug":"western-australia-emerges-a-new-top-mining-destination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1167602","title":{"rendered":"Western Australia emerges a new top mining destination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Resources-rich Western Australia has been picked the most attractive region for mining investment in 2019, the\u00a0latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraserinstitute.org\/studies\/annual-survey-of-mining-companies-2019\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">annual survey\u00a0of mining executives<\/a>\u00a0released Tuesday by the Fraser Institute shows.<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center d-xs-block d-sm-block d-md-none'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Aussie state, which is home to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jtsi.wa.gov.au\/about-the-state\/major-resource-producer\/major-resource-projects\" >almost 130 export-oriented mining projects<\/a> and hundreds of smaller quarries and mines, producing over 50 different commodities, had ranked second in 2018.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>Finland moved into second place this year, after ranking 17th in 2018.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Finland, another country usually located among the top<br \/>\ndestination, moved into second place this year, after ranking 17th in 2018. <\/p>\n<p>United States\u2019 Nevada moved down two spots from first in<br \/>\n2018 to third in 2019. <\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top 10 are Alaska, Portugal (fifth in 2019,<br \/>\nversus 46th in 2018), South Australia, Ireland, Idaho, Arizona and Sweden. <\/p>\n<p>The ranking takes both mineral and policy perception into<br \/>\nconsideration as well as permit times. This year\u2019s is based on 263 responses<br \/>\ncovering 76 jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to the ten least attractive jurisdictions for investment, the mining executives interviewed chose Tanzania, Chubut (Argentina), La Rioja (Argentina), Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Zambia, Venezuela, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mali and Nicaragua in that order. <\/p>\n<figure region, Europe emerged this year as<br \/>\nthe most attractive mining investment destination, showing a 20% increase in<br \/>\ninterest from investors, followed by Australia and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The Maple Leaf country had held <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/canada-the-worlds-top-mining-destination-despite-saskatchewan-fall\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">the top spot in 2017 and 2018<\/a>, but its relative investment attractiveness last year fell by almost 11%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The resources-rich state had
