(ISS) and Glass Lewis &amp;\u00a0Co. have both recommended that shareholders vote in favour of the <a aria-label=\"proposed merger (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/canadas-equinox-gold-buys-smaller-rival-leagold-in-578-million-deal\/\" >proposed merger<\/a> between Canadian-based gold miners Equinox Gold (TSX: EQX) and Leagold Mining (TSX: LMC).<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center d-xs-block d-sm-block d-md-none'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Shareholders of both companies will meet separately on January 28 to consider the merger. The transaction is expected to close in late February, subject to all shareholder and regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n<p>In December, Equinox entered into a definitive agreement to acquire its smaller rival Leagold and consolidate their portfolios in a deal that would valued at C$769.3 million.
