Plans to restart activities were set in motion when Appian Capital<br \/>\nAdvisory acquired the mine through the bankruptcy process of its previous<br \/>\noperator, Mirabela Nickel, in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Santa Rita is a fully permitted,<br \/>\npast-producing nickel mine&nbsp;with an estimated annual production capacity of<br \/>\n6.5 million tonnes of nickel in sulphide concentrate.<\/p>\n<p>Since blasting restarted in July,<br \/>\nAtlantic Nickel has achieved several operational milestones on or ahead of<br \/>\nschedule. Refurbishment of the plant is complete, and the ramp-up of<br \/>\ncommissioning activities has resulted in early production of nickel concentrate,<br \/>\nthe miner said.<\/p>\n<p>To date, Atlantic Nickel has<br \/>\nproduced over 11,000 tonnes and has entered into a three-year offtake contract<br \/>\nfor a portion of Santa Rita\u2019s production plus a $40.8 million financing<br \/>\narrangement with Trafigura.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deal provides the remaining funding required for the restart of the project and establishes a strong relationship with a best-in-class global commodities trading firm,\u201d the miner <a href=\"https:\/\/appiancapitaladvisory.com\/atlantic-nickel-announces-first-sale-of-nickel-concentrate-from-santa-rita\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"said in the statement (opens in a new tab)\">said in the statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following on recent drilling<br \/>\nresults, an updated open pit reserve statement is planned for completion in the<br \/>\nfirst quarter of 2020 and the company expects to undertake further drilling this<br \/>\nyear to continue to grow and define the long life underground resource<br \/>\npotential.<\/p>\n<p>Nickel was, by far, the best<br \/>\nperformer among the London Metal Exchange\u2019s metals last year and is set to<br \/>\nremain strong due to an expedited ban on nickel
