{"id":1155537,"date":"2019-12-13T14:36:16","date_gmt":"2019-12-13T20:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1009244"},"modified":"2019-12-13T14:36:16","modified_gmt":"2019-12-13T20:36:16","slug":"conuma-coal-electrifies-fleet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1155537","title":{"rendered":"Conuma Coal electrifies fleet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Conuma Coal, which operates three metallurgical coal mines in northeastern British Columbia is electrifying its fleet of haul trucks at one of its mines.<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The company plans to replace its fleet of diesel trucks with five electric mine haul trucks made by Komatsu at its Wolverine mine.<\/p>\n<p>While electrifying the fleet will reduce carbon emissions, it\u2019s actually costs and efficiency that are driving the decision to convert to electric trucks.<\/p>\n<p>Electric vehicles require less maintenance and are more durable, the company says in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Based on comprehensive engineering and financial analysis, Conuma determined that the deployment of new Komatsu 830E-5 haul trucks at Wolverine would meaningfully increase production at the mine, largely due to the improved overall availability of the Komatsu electric drive haul trucks,&#8221; the company said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The first Komatsu electric truck arrived at the mine in August.
