Its dimensions are 40\u044539\u044523 mm. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch large gem-quality crystals are extremely rare,\u201d deputy chief executive, Evgeny Agureev, said <a href=\"http:\/\/eng.alrosa.ru\/alrosa-uncovers-the-largest-230-ct-diamond-in-recent-years\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">in the statement<\/a>. \u201cWe have not seen them since 2016, when two diamonds weighing over 200 carats were mined.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Discovered in 1955, the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe is one of<br \/>\nthe largest primary diamond deposits in the Yakutia&nbsp;region of Siberia and<br \/>\nglobally. Its diamond output reached 2.385 million carats in nine months of<br \/>\n2019.<\/p>\n<p>Alrosa produced more than 43million carats of diamonds in 2018 from its Russian mines, or about 27% of the world\u2019s total. That\u2019s 18% more than its closest competitor, Anglo American\u2019s De Beers.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\"
