{"id":1143545,"date":"2019-10-11T14:22:24","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T19:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=1004296"},"modified":"2019-10-11T14:22:24","modified_gmt":"2019-10-11T19:22:24","slug":"de-beers-sends-helicopter-from-victor-mine-to-rescue-stranded-hot-air-balloonists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1143545","title":{"rendered":"De Beers sends helicopter from Victor mine to rescue stranded hot air balloonists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>De Beers Group responded to an unusual request for assistance at a remote mine site in Ontario Friday morning. <\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The emergency response team at Victor mine received the request from Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton Rescue Coordination Centre regarding two hot air balloonists who were reported to have blown off course and were forced to make an emergency landing in the muskeg in the north of the Canadian province, 100kms west of the mine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>The balloonists were competing in the 23rd Annual America\u2019s Challenge Gas Balloon race headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico and were racing to Duluth, Minnesota <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The balloonists, an<br \/>\nAmerican resident and Polish resident, were competing in the 23rd Annual<br \/>\nAmerica&#8217;s Challenge Gas Balloon race headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico<br \/>\nand were racing to Duluth, Minnesota.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A helicopter stationed at<br \/>\nthe Victor Mine site was dispatched and recovered the two balloonists<br \/>\nuninjured.
