It also had high concentrations of other heavy minerals following the accident.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>News comes as a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI), which has been looking into the impact of the Brumadinho tragedy on water supplies, concluded that Vale should be charged with homicide.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Dredging activities are planned to<br \/>\ncontinue until July 2020, said Vale, starting at the confluence of the<br \/>\nFerro-Cov\u00e3o creek with the Paraopeba river and going about 2 km downstream from<br \/>\nthat point.&nbsp;It\u2019s estimated that between 300,000 m\u00b3 and 350,000 m\u00b3 of the mine<br \/>\nwaste leaked into that area.<\/p>\n<p>The miner said the dredging<br \/>\nactivity and the implementation of a water treatment system were part of<br \/>\na Tailings Containment Plan presented to authorities following the breach.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/noticias.r7.com\/minas-gerais\/cpi-vai-sugerir-indiciamento-da-vale-por-ameaca-hidrica-na-grande-bh-19082019\" >Brazilian press is reporting<\/a> that a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI), which has been looking into the impact of the Brumadinho tragedy on water supplies, concluded that Vale should be charged with homicide.<\/p>\n<p>The committee, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/g1.globo.com\/mg\/minas-gerais\/noticia\/2019\/08\/19\/brumadinho-cpi-da-camara-de-bh-conclui-que-desabastecimento-de-agua-e-iminente-apos-contaminacao-do-paraopeba.ghtml\" >O Globo reports<\/a>, has recommended the immediate decommissioning of all tailings dams built in the Rio das Velhas and Paraopeba basins.&nbsp;In addition, it has asked Vale to build new structures for water catchment, as that locals face a looming water supply shortage.<\/p>\n<p>Vale shares have fallen over 14% so<br \/>\nfar in 2019, after climbing almost 32% in 2018.
