{"id":1129650,"date":"2019-07-30T09:16:04","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T14:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=997936"},"modified":"2019-07-30T09:16:04","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T14:16:04","slug":"canadas-japan-gold-extends-footprint-in-the-asian-country-buys-three-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1129650","title":{"rendered":"Canada\u2019s Japan Gold extends footprint in the Asian country, buys three projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canada\u2019s Japan Gold Corp (TSX-V:JG) is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.japangold.com\/index.php\/news\/2019\/426-\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">growing its portfolio<\/a> in the Pacific nation with the acquisition of three new projects, comprising a total of 23,400 acres near current and past-producing gold mines in the country\u2019s south.<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Vancouver-based miner said the land package, which<br \/>\ncovers 76 applications in the Southern Kyushu Epithermal Gold Province, takes<br \/>\nthe total number of projects it currently has in Japan to 18.<\/p>\n<p>The new assets area located near current and past-producing gold mines, such as Hishikari, which produced 7.6 million ounces at average grades of 30 to 40 grams of gold per ton (g\/t) when it was operational. <\/p>\n<p>Similar grades were mined at other projects in the region, including at the Yamagano operation, which churned out almost one million ounces at 17.4 g\/t gold during its mine-life.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the Southern Epithermal Gold Province has produced<br \/>\nover 11 million ounces of gold.<\/p>\n<p>The company said in a release that the Japanese Ministry of<br \/>\nEconomy, Trade and Industry has accepted the new applications, allowing Japan<br \/>\nGold to commence surface exploration.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the miner is ditching most of its<br \/>\ncopper-gold lithocap projects in the region, except the Kamitsue project in<br \/>\nKyushu, which hosts a gold-rich porphyry system believed to have potential for<br \/>\nshallow mineralization.<\/p>\n<p>Japan closed all of its gold mines during World War II, reallocating<br \/>\nworkers to base metal mines and factories.
