{"id":1128307,"date":"2019-07-23T06:05:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-23T11:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=997274"},"modified":"2019-07-23T06:05:55","modified_gmt":"2019-07-23T11:05:55","slug":"condor-gold-granted-extension-to-permitting-deadline-for-la-india-in-nicaragua","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1128307","title":{"rendered":"Condor Gold granted extension to permitting deadline for La India in Nicaragua"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nicaragua-focused Condor Gold (LON:CNR) has <a href=\"http:\/\/ca.condorgold.com\/sites\/default\/files\/news\/190723%20Condor_RNS_Permitting_Update%20July%202019%20final_0.pdf\">obtained an extension<\/a> to meet conditions associated with the environmental permit to build and operate its flagship La India open pit gold mine, in the western side of the country.<\/p>\n<div class='d-flex justify-content-center'>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The company, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/condor-gold-start-building-mine-nicaragua\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">received such licence in August 2018<\/a>, was given a timeframe to meet certain conditions. Such requirements, including reaching a deal with landowners to buy their properties, must be settled before construction of the 2,800 tonnes of ore per day gold mine can begin within 18 months of the grant.<\/p>\n<p>Condor Gold, however, said last month it wouldn\u2019t be able to complete land acquisition for its mine site infrastructure in time.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>The company has now extra time to acquire land in Nicaragua or to reach legal agreements with landowners, so it can proceed with construction.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The extension, granted by the Ministry<br \/>\nof Environment and Natural Resource&nbsp;(MARENA), will also help the gold<br \/>\nminer complete technical engineering tests and other studies required prior to<br \/>\nconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>La India is a 313 km\u00b2 concession<br \/>\npackage covering 98% of the historic La India Gold Mining District. Mineral<br \/>\nresources are 9.85 million tonnes at 3.6 grams per tonne of gold for 1.14<br \/>\nmillion of indicate ounces.<\/p>\n<p>The asset also has a total underground resource of 1.27 million tonnes at a grade of 5.8g\/t gold for 238,000 gold ounces in the indicated category and 5.47 million tonnes at a grade of 5.1g\/t gold for 889,000 ounces gold in the inferred category.<\/p>\n<p>Condor Gold is currently advancing<br \/>\nthe permitting process&nbsp;for two high-grade satellite feeder pits that could<br \/>\nincrease La India\u2019s production by 50% to 120,000 ounces a year. <\/p>\n<p>The America and Mestiza pits are<br \/>\nlocated about 2km and 4km, respectively, from the mine\u2019s processing plant and<br \/>\ncomplement the main open pit.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is to begin by\u00a0mining the \u201cmini pits\u201d within the larger, permitted pit and truck that ore to a nearby processing plant, chief executive officer\u00a0Mark Child told MINING.COM\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mining.com\/condor-gold-shares-jump-nicaragua-project-grows\/\" >earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company expects to complete the<br \/>\ntwo environmental impact assessments in the second half of the year. <\/p>\n<p>Condor Gold initially staked<br \/>\nconcessions in Nicaragua, Central America\u2019s largest country, in 2006.
