remained on track to produce between 40,000 and 44,000 ounces of the precious metal this year from its Palito and Sao Chico mines in the country\u2019s north, almost 19% more than the 37,108 ounces it {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The company, which generated 9,527ounces<br \/>\nof gold in the three months to June 30, also said it planeed to finish a<br \/>\npreliminary economic assessment (PEA) of its other gold project in Brazil\u2019s<br \/>\nTapajos region \u2014 Coringa.<\/p>\n<p>Serabi is making progress on permitting its Coringa gold project, which it acquired in late 2017, and is considered a mirror image of Palito in terms of the geology, size and mining operations that will be used.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>With gold prices very much in our favour as well as exchange rates, it is a good time to be a producer in Brazil. <\/p>\n<p><cite>Serabi Gold&#8217;s chief executive, Mike Hodgson<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Permitting a mine in Brazil \u2013 in particular the<br \/>\nwaste storage element \u2013 has become a lot trickier in the past few years,<br \/>\nfollowing two major tailings dam collapses at iron ore mines in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan to replace a conventional tailings dam with installing a filtration plant allowing for the dry stacking of tails has been well received by the state environmental agency, SEMAS, who had already approved the original environmental impact assessment (EIA) on the basis of a conventional dam,\u201d chief executive, Mike Hodgson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.serabigold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Q2-2019-Operational-Update-verWEB.pdf\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">said in the statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Serabi\u2019s boss said he<br \/>\nwas confident results would improve further during the second half of the year,<br \/>\nboosted by additional ounces the tailings treatment was now bringing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith gold prices very much in our<br \/>\nfavour as well as exchange rates, it is a good time to be a producer in Brazil,\u201d<br \/>\nHodgson said.<\/p>\n<p>The Tapajos region, in the<br \/>\nBrazilian state of Para, is reported to be the world\u2019s third largest alluvial<br \/>\ngold field and Serabi Gold believes that the region is a major, under-explored<br \/>\nmineral province.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Historical data show that artisanal miners, called \u201cgarimpeiros\u201d,<br \/>\nhave mined about 30 million ounces of gold mostly from alluvial and surface<br \/>\nweathered bedrock deposits in the region since the 1970\u2019s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Miner remains on
