The diamond is also transparent with a yellow hue.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>In February, Alrosa unearthed a rough diamond weighing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/alrosa-finds-gem-quality-diamond-weighing-almost-100-carats\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"98.8 carats (opens in a new tab)\">98.8 carats<\/a> at Zapolyarnaya<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Even though the rock is not a record-breaker, it is amongst the largest ones found in the area. The first large gem-quality diamonds of the Verkhne-Munskoe deposit were a 51.49-carat crystal, mined immediately after the official opening of the site in the fall of 2018, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/alrosa-finds-gem-quality-diamond-weighing-almost-100-carats\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"98.8-carat diamond (opens in a new tab)\">98.8-carat diamond<\/a> recovered in February 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Not too long ago, Alrosa discovered that the Verkhne-Munskoye deposit is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/alrosa-says-verkhne-munskoye-deposit-prolific-previously-thought\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"more prolific than previously thought (opens in a new tab)\">more prolific than previously thought<\/a>. The discovery followed a series of tests the miner ran back in March to clarify the diamondiferous nature of the northwestern part of the Zapolyarnaya pipe.
