{"id":1123791,"date":"2019-06-28T10:58:04","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T10:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=995275"},"modified":"2019-06-28T10:58:04","modified_gmt":"2019-06-28T10:58:04","slug":"yamana-says-brazilian-gold-mine-on-the-verge-of-becoming-a-world-class-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1123791","title":{"rendered":"Yamana says Brazilian gold mine on the verge of becoming a \u201cworld-class\u201d operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian bullion producer Yamana Gold (TSX:YRI) (NYSE:AUY) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yamana.com\/English\/investors\/news\/news-details\/2019\/Yamana-Gold-Increases-Gold-Production-Guidance-and-Updates-Improved-Strategic-Life-of-Mine-Plan-and-Phased-Expansion-for-Its-Jacobina-Mine-and-Announces-Annual-Significant-Corporate-GA-Reductions\/default.aspx\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">lifted production guidance<\/a> for its Brazil-based Jacobina mine, which the company believes is on the cusp of becoming a \u201cworld-class\u201d operation.<\/p>\n<div id='div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0'><script>googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1561499308230-0');});<\/script><\/div>\n<p>The current Phase 1 expansion is expected to increase the<br \/>\nmine&#8217;s output to about 170,000 ounces a year by 2021 at the current reserve<br \/>\ngrade,&nbsp;compared with the present annual guidance of 152,000 ounces.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Jacobina gold mine is now one of the company&#8217;s higher quality, top value operations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Toronto-based miner also said it was considering a further expansion of Jacobina, located in Bahia state, which would include increasing the plant to between 7,500 to 8\u00a0500 tonnes a day. <\/p>\n<p>A prefeasibility study is under way to identify expansion<br \/>\nscenarios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJacobina has improved significantly in the last several years across all measures, and it is now one of our higher quality, high value operations,\u201d Daniel Racine, president and chief executive officer of Yamana, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yamana.com\/English\/investors\/news\/news-details\/2019\/Yamana-Gold-Increases-Gold-Production-Guidance-and-Updates-Improved-Strategic-Life-of-Mine-Plan-and-Phased-Expansion-for-Its-Jacobina-Mine-and-Announces-Annual-Significant-Corporate-GA-Reductions\/default.aspx\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing and planned expansions at Jacobina are the<br \/>\ncontinuation of a series of incremental improvements Yamana has implemented<br \/>\nover the past four years.
