{"id":1122074,"date":"2019-06-19T21:51:30","date_gmt":"2019-06-19T21:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=994226"},"modified":"2019-06-19T21:51:30","modified_gmt":"2019-06-19T21:51:30","slug":"newtrax-joins-sandvik-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1122074","title":{"rendered":"Newtrax joins Sandvik Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newtrax Technologies, a leading provider of safety and productivity systems for underground hard rock mines \u2013 has been acquired by Swedish business\u00a0Sandvik\u00a0to be run as an independent business unit within the Rock Drills and Technologies division of the\u00a0Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology\u00a0business area.<\/p>\n<p>The combined expertise of Sandvik and Newtrax will create the most powerful, streamlined digital solution to improve safety and efficiency for underground hard rock mines with Newtrax\u2019s leading technology in wireless IoT connectivity and Sandvik\u2019s leading suite of digital tools for analyzing and optimizing mining production and processes, including\u00a0OptiMine\u00a0and\u00a0My Sandvik.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy including Newtrax into the Sandvik family, we further strengthen our leading position in areas related to automation and digitalization,\u201d says\u00a0Henrik Ager, president of Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2009, Newtrax started as a university project led by\u00a0Alexandre Cervinka, founder and CEO, with co-founder\u00a0Vincent Kassis. In 2014, Newtrax received a major investment from Jolimont Global Mining System, an Australian private equity investor in high growth mining equipment, technology and services.<\/p>\n<p>Since acquiring the mining division of ISAAC Instruments in Q4 2016, Newtrax has reinforced its position as the world leader in vehicle telemetry systems for underground hard rock mines.<\/p>\n<p>Newtrax will operate as an independent business unit committed to having an open architecture and will continue to interface with other vendors in the mining digital ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy joining Sandvik Group, we can now confidently say that we have the world\u2019s leading digitization solution for underground mining customers,\u201d said\u00a0 Cervinka.<\/p>\n<p>Newtrax generated revenues of approximately $26 million with 120 employees in 2018.
