Selling on eBay can be a lucrative side hustle if you you know what you\u2019re doing. <\/span><\/p>\n

eBay makes it easy for just about anyone to start buying and selling items for auction online. And, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard the success stories of people making $1,000 – $2,000 or more per month selling on the platform.<\/span><\/p>\n

Is that really possible? If so, what are these sellers doing differently? <\/span><\/p>\n

It turns out there are some strategies to getting the highest price for your old baseball card collection or those pair of designer jeans that no longer fit. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here are the five things you need to maximize your profits as a seller on eBay:<\/span><\/p>\n

  2. A persuasive item description<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The right timing<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The right price<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Low shipping costs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I\u2019ll go into more detail on all these in a second but first let\u2019s review how selling on eBay actually works. <\/span><\/p>\n

    How to Start Selling on Ebay in Under an Hour<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

    Step 1: Sign Up for an Ebay Account<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Go to the website and click sign up. Follow the sign-up process \u2014 it should take you less than 2 minutes to complete.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Step 2: Find Something to Sell<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Look in your garage, closets, attic, basement and bedrooms. You\u2019re bound to find something you no longer use or want to get rid of. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Even things that are broken can sell well on eBay because buyers that know how to fix it will scoop it up. So don\u2019t discount broken laptops, old TVs, typewriters etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Step 3: Research the Price of Your Item<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Go to Google Shopping<\/span><\/a><\/strong> and type in the search bar your item. Use somewhat generic keywords like \u201c[Brand] leather purse\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

    You should be able to get a rough average of what that item is selling for brand new or used on the market today. Use these prices as a guide to price your own listing.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Step 4: Market Your Item <\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Remember those tips I mentioned above? <\/span><\/p>\n

    First, you want to take good quality photos of your product. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Take different angles on a neutral background and make sure you have at least one photo that shows the size of your product relative to something else (like a $1 bill or your hand). <\/span><\/p>\n

    Next, you need to write a persuasive description. <\/span><\/p>\n
