{"id":1105420,"date":"2019-03-14T15:36:13","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T15:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/?p=976283"},"modified":"2019-03-14T15:36:13","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T15:36:13","slug":"operations-resume-at-goldcorps-cerro-negro-mine-in-argentina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1105420","title":{"rendered":"Operations resume at Goldcorp&#8217;s Cerro Negro mine in Argentina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canada\u2019s Goldcorp (TSX:G) (NYSE: GG) said workers at its Cerro Negro mine in Argentina <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goldcorp.com\/English\/investors\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/2019\/Goldcorp-announces-the-restart-of-operations-at-Cerro-Negro-mine\/default.aspx\"  rel=\"noopener\">have returned to work<\/a>, after an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/strike-hits-goldcorps-cerro-negro-mine-argentina\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">illegal strike<\/a> at the gold producing operation, the company\u2019s biggest in the South American country.<\/p>\n<p>Mining stopped on March 8, when members of the Asociaci\u00f3n Obrera Minera Argentina (AOMA) downed tools, and processing activities have now also ceased following the exhaustion of surface stockpiles.<\/p>\n<p>The Vancouver-based miner said\u00a0a conciliation process resolution was issued by the provincial government of Santa Cruz and accepted by the parties, but didn\u2019t provide further details.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll personnel have been remobilized and the site is ramping back up to normal operations,\u201d it said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Cerro Negro underground mine began operations in 2015. It produced 489,000 gold ounces last year at an all-in sustaining cost of $535 per ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, the company said its chairman, Ian Telfer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newswire.ca\/news-releases\/goldcorp-announces-change-to-board-of-directors-following-the-arrangement-877148406.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">won\u2019t be joining the board of the merged Newmont-Goldcorp<\/a>, assuming the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/newmont-grabs-goldcorp-10b-deal-creates-worlds-top-gold-miner\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">planned $10 billion-merger<\/a> gets shareholder approval next month.<\/p>\n<p>The companies said earlier this year the business combination would create the world\u2019s largest producer by output, challenging\u00a0<a
