That water stream is used for minerals production and transport.<\/p>\n<p>The Werra plant \u2014 which includes the Hattorf, Wintershall and Unterbreizbach sites \u2014 is the largest of its kind owned by K+S.<\/p>\n<p><q class='pullQuote-right'>Production at the plant will now only be halted from Dec. 24 to 26, as recent rainfall raised water levels of the Werra river. <\/q><\/p>\n<p>The German potash producer\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/german-ks-halts-production-second-site-severe-drought-drags\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">shut down its Wintershall site<\/a> in late August, after a severe drought\u00a0hit production at its main mine network\u00a0in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>The following month, it also halted production at is Hattorf site, as the exceptionally low water levels in the Werra river restricted its ability to dispose of waste water.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Due to the production stoppage, which is now shorter than previously assumed, K+S expects only an additional negative EBITDA effect of roughly 10 million euros in the fourth quarter of 2018,&#8221; the company said. It had previously expected a hit of up to 15 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>K+S assumes further stoppages in the potash production at the Werra plant to be unlikely in the first quarter of 2019, even in the
