{"id":1037559,"date":"2018-09-24T09:54:32","date_gmt":"2018-09-24T09:54:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1037559"},"modified":"2018-09-24T09:54:32","modified_gmt":"2018-09-24T09:54:32","slug":"barrick-to-buy-randgold-for-18-3b-forming-giant-global-gold-miner-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juniorminingnews.com\/?p=1037559","title":{"rendered":"Barrick to buy Randgold for $18.3B forming giant global gold miner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-style:italic;font-size:16px\">By  <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mining.com\/barrick-buy-randgold-18-3b-forming-giant-global-gold-miner\/\">Cecilia Jamasmie<\/a><\/span>  <\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s Barrick Gold (TSX, NYSE:ABX), the world&#8217;s largest bullion producing by value, is about to become even bigger as it <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/barrick.com\/news\/news-details\/2018\/Barrick-and-Randgold-Combine-to-Create-Industry-Leading-Gold-Investment-Vehicle\/default.aspx?utm_source=home&amp;utm_medium=abx&amp;utm_campaign=br\" rel=\"noopener\">has agreed to buy Randgold Resources<\/a> (LON:RRS) in a $18.3 billion share deal.<\/p>\n<p>The new Barrick, valued at $24 billion including debt, would be now the world&#8217;s top gold miner by value and output in an industry under investor pressure to put capital to good use.<\/p>\n<p>The company will be listed in New York and Toronto and own five of the world&#8217;s 10 lowest cost gold mines.<\/p>\n<p>Randgold&#8217;s shareholders will own 33.4 percent of the combined firm, with the rest controlled by Barrick&#8217;s investors.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the deal, China&#8217;s Shandong Gold, one of the country&#8217;s biggest gold producers, has agreed to buy $300 million of shares in Barrick.
